Conceived in Hobart, Tasmania by podiatrists Nathan White and Chris Angel and named by Wayne Mclean, our first rudimentary plastic offerings formed a first step in the pursuit of excellence and evolution of the set of products we offer today.

PRO LAUNCHED

A shift towards carbon composite and a more streamlined custom Pro offering was launched. In parallel, the COBRA9 racing team was formed and acted as the early test bed for our products under the rigors of racing use. Our devices are now used globally, from grassroots to the UCI World Tour.

2013 saw the launch of our much-loved SemiPro and our journey to redefine what was possible from an off-the-shelf orthotic began.

2015, saw the introduction of our much loved carbon fibre InnerCore technology, enabling precise mechanical tuning and drastic reductions in mass and volume.

THE PEDALER X COBRA9

COBRA9 merged with the Pedaler Holdings Group to include trusted cycling-related health offerings across Brisbane.

OEM PARTNERSHIP ESTABLISHED

OEM development and production of innersoles for our first large cycling shoe retail partner Bont began with over 15,000 devices made to date.

Nathan White, B.Hth.Sc. (Pod) Hons

Nathan has over 20 years of Podiatry and orthotic manufacturing experience.  As a focused cycling podiatrist, he has treated thousands of cyclists with a huge variety of pathologies.  He has also spoken at conferences and training seminars for health practitioners and bike fitters. Nathan has always been a keen cyclist and has raced at the National Road Series level in Australia prior to dedicating more time to building the COBRA9 business.

Daniel Perkins, B. ExSc B.Pod

Dan joined the Cobra9 team in 2021 with a background in Exercise Science and Podiatry having worked closely with a broad range of sporting populations and orthoses manufacturing techniques suited to these disciplines. He applies this experience to the constantly evolving cycling footwear sphere and striving towards the pursuit of perfection within our COBRA9 offerings. You’ll find him working within the operations management and product development areas of the company as well as likely having worked on your SemiPros before they make their way to you.

Jonathon Birch, Ph.D., M.Sc., B.Sc.(Hons)

Originally from the UK, Jono joined the team in 2024 having become partial to our climate while completing his PhD at The University of Queensland. With extensive lecturing and research expertise in neuromechanical foot function, biomechanical optimisation and applied physiology, he is a perfect fit to head up lab operations and product development at COBRA9 HQ.

Adam White B. Eng (Mech/Space) Hons, B. Arts

Adam has over 20 years of experience in web scale software design, architecture, development and delivery across a range of industries from AdTech, to News media and Aerospace systems. Through it all he has retained his keen passion for competitive cycling and fostering the communities that spring up around the sport.
